HAZEL FERRIE
I will paint or draw almost anything and love the feeling of moving paint around. I'm drawn in the main, but not exclusively, to still-lifes and interiors. I try to capture a glimpse into someone's life or, at the very least, get the viewer to look at every day objects in a slightly different way. I have also dabbled in landscapes recently, as can be seen by the piece on my home page which is a depiction of the Icelandica Hav, a cargo ship, docked in Perth Harbour.
Oil is my preferred medium, but usually there is a nod to mixed-media, with hints of the under-painting or my original drawing remaining and lately I have been working on collaged surfaces with acrylic underpaintings. All of which, I hope, will lead somewhere unexpected - both for the viewer and for me.

I enjoyed drawing and painting as a child, although I was encouraged down a more academic route. I then took a couple of adult classes when I was in London in the 80's and 90's, taking it slightly more seriously with regular classes in drawing when I lived, briefly, in New York at the end of the 90's. I gained an HND at Ayr College in Art and Design in 2008 and I have kept on painting at various day and evening classes and in my studio at home since then.
All of my work is available for sale, and whilst some of the originals have sold, most are available as mounted giclee prints.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in making a purchase or would simply like to ask me a question. Originals are all framed and vary in price from £250 and small mounted prints start at £40.
